Seminars 42
The XA Lab seminar was successfully held on AUG 14.
During the seminar, Master’s student Miri Hwang and Master’s student Hyun Ji Lee presented the research topics they will pursue this semester.
Name : Miri Hwang
Title : How active design shapes user behavior and experience in a learning commons : A mixed-methods study of the rolex learning center
Summary : This page summarizes the key concepts of Learning Commons and Active Design. On the left, Learning Commons centers on functional integration, spatial flexibility, and variety of choice, demonstrating how learning spaces should be organically composed. On the right, Active Design addresses connectivity, visibility, and mobility support, explaining the structure of movement and communication within a space.
At the bottom of the screen, the relevant prior studies and literature that I have identified to support these concepts are listed.
Name : Hyun Ji Lee
Title : Gap Between Design Intentions and Actual User Behavior in Public Spaces Developed Through International Design Competitions – An AI-Based Analysis of User Activities –
Summary : The dwell status on Nodeulseom is visually represented. Looking at the legend on the right, black indicates Sun representing sunlight, green indicates Green representing green spaces, and blue indicates Shade representing shaded areas. In addition, the color bar at the bottom of the legend analyzes dwell frequency or intensity from low to high as a heatmap, showing space-specific usage characteristics.
It was a meaningful occasion for students to share their plans, exchange ideas, and receive constructive feedback. Their upcoming research is highly anticipated, and we look forward to seeing its development throughout the semester.
The seminar took place in the PT Room on the 4th floor of Building 22, and the next paper seminar is scheduled to be held on SEP 04.
