Seminars 38

The XA Lab seminar was successfully held on JUL 08.

During the seminar, Master’s student Hyun Min Choi and Master’s student Hyun Ji Lee presented the research topics they will pursue this semester.

Title : Gap Between Design Intentions and Actual User Behavior in Public Spaces Developed Through International Design Competitions – An AI-Based Analysis of User Activities –

Summary : The space is being analyzed by categorizing it according to environmental characteristics. Green represents green spaces, blue represents shaded areas, and black represents spaces directly exposed to sunlight. Based on this categorized spatial information, we are utilizing the YOLO algorithm to precisely analyze which environments people prefer and spend more time in.

Title : “A Study on the Boundary Conditions and Urban Connectivity of Rooftop Spaces in High-Density Cities.”

Summary : A spatial typology model is presented to systematically analyze architectural design and rooftop space utilization. First, physical structural criteria for analysis are established by classifying the location of the service core within a building into types such as eccentric, two-way, central, and independent core configurations. Along with this, indices for space utilization are defined by categorizing rooftop greening and layout methods into integrated, adjacent, distributed, consolidated, boundary, and access-connected types. In conclusion, this material serves as a standardized guideline that categorizes the structural characteristics of buildings and forms of rooftop utilization, facilitating objective decision-making in future spatial analysis and design processes.

It was a meaningful occasion for students to share their plans, exchange ideas, and receive constructive feedback. Their upcoming research is highly anticipated, and we look forward to seeing its development throughout the semester.

The seminar took place in the PT Room on the 5th floor of Building 22, and the next paper seminar is scheduled to be held onJUL 15.
