Seminars 34

The XA Lab seminar was successfully held on JUN 10.

During the seminar, Master’s student Sechang Oh and Master’s student Hyun Min Choi presented the research topics they will pursue this semester.

Title : The Impact ofvAI Image Generators on Design Thinking : An EEG Investigation

Summary : This analysis uses the Epoc Flex Saline device to visualize changes in brainwaves over time. In the topographic maps, red represents a high level of activity, while blue indicates low activity. The strong red signal of theta waves in the frontal region suggests that the subject is engaged in focused cognitive activity. Alpha waves show the red activity area shifting across the brain over time, indicating a change in the focus of information processing. The red appearance of gamma waves in the temporal region may represent concentrated brain activity, but it requires careful interpretation as it could also be influenced by muscle movement or external noise.

Title : “A Study on the Boundary Conditions and Urban Connectivity of Rooftop Spaces in High-Density Cities.”

Summary : In the map on the left, green represents accurate detections, red indicates false positives, and blue shows missed areas. Through these improvements, the accurately detected area increased by approximately 3,442 square meters, and by significantly reducing the missed area, I can now detect rooftops much more accurately. Looking at the performance metrics, the recall rate improved significantly from 73.8% to 89.5%, showing that the model’s ability to capture rooftops has greatly enhanced. The F1-score, which balances precision and recall, also improved to 87.7%. I am currently training the model on complex rooftop structures like outdoor units and stairwells to achieve even more precise detection.

It was a meaningful occasion for students to share their plans, exchange ideas, and receive constructive feedback. Their upcoming research is highly anticipated, and we look forward to seeing its development throughout the semester.

The seminar took place in the PT Room on the 5th floor of Building 22, and the next paper seminar is scheduled to be held on JUN 17.
