Preliminary Thesis proposal
XA Lab Master’s student Elizaveta Shevchuk delivered her thesis proposal presentation today, titled “Cognitive Complexity in Design: A Linkographic and EEG-Based Framework.”
This research proposes an integrated framework that examines how cognitive complexity emerges and evolves during architectural design processes. By combining linkography-based structural analysis with EEG-derived cognitive-load indicators, the study aims to provide a deeper understanding of how designers reason, integrate information, and make decisions in real time.
Professors Joongwon Lee and Hyeyoung Choi graciously served as reviewers and offered valuable feedback throughout the session.
There is still substantial work to be refined and developed before the final defense next semester, but we look forward to seeing the research evolve. Given the dedication Elizaveta has shown so far, we anticipate strong and meaningful outcomes from this study.
